About Rhodes

Rhodes island is the largest of the Dodecanese islands of Greece and it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. Rhodes is a very beautiful and historical island with many places worth visiting. Here are a few places we suggest you visit during your holidays on the island of Rhodes.

The old town of Rhodes

The Medieval City of Rhodes (Unesco's World Heritage) is the largest living medieval town in Europe. Medieval walls, the Palace of the Grand Masters, the magnificent Street of the Knights, Mosques, Byzantine and Gothic Churches, water fountains are blending with restaurants, bars and shops. Make sure you are going to spend a day there.

The valley of the Butterflies

A natural destination on the island, home to the Panaxia butterfly (Quadripunctaria Poda), the Valley of the Butterflies. From late July to early September, thousands of butterflies overwhelm the valley. Butterflies valley is also a site of the only natural forest of Liquidambar orientalis (Oriental Sweetgum trees). For these reasons it is an excellent place for people who wish to enjoy the beauties of nature.

The kallithea Springs

Kallithea Springs are located at the bay of Kallithea, just 9km from the City of Rhodes. In Kallithea the main attraction is the Roman baths. The thermal springs of Kallithea in Rhodes, were well known since the Ancient Greece times for the therapeutical properties of their waters.

The acropolis of Rhodes (Temple of Apollo) – Monte Smith hill

Monte Smith is located just south of the city of Rhodes (approximately 3km). The panoramic view of the city of Rhodes and the Aegean Sea is breathtaking. There you will find the temple of Pythia Apollo. The archaeological park contains the Hellenistic stadium, built in the 3rd century BC, where the Athletic events of the Aleia Games took place.

Lindos Village (and Acropolis)

The lovely village of Lindos is one of the most attractive villages of Rhodes, and is located south of the capital at a distance of 50km from the city of Rhodes. The beautiful scenery of the traditional village with white houses attracts thousands of visitors each year. In Lindos village there are many restaurants, bars and shops. Overlooking Lindos bay and the Aegean sea stands the famous Acropolis of Lindos and the remains of Lyndia Athenas' temple. You can enjoy your day there, as you can choose to relax on one of the beautiful beaches of Lindos.

Prasonisi

A windsurfer's paradise. It is located on the south-western tip of the island of Rhodes. It is a very popular destination for surfers but it is well worth a visit even if you are not a surfer. It is one of the most impressive beaches on the island. During summer time the water levels are low enough, this island is a peninsula attached to Rhodes. During the winter time the water levels get high enough and becomes an island.

Monolithos village and castle

Monolithos is a village of unique beauty and special view which combines mountain and sea, located on the south region of the island. Outside the village is the medieval Castle, built on top of a 100m rock, which has an amazing view to the endless blue sea. This palce will surely offer to you unique moment of relaxation and calmness.

Seven springs

"Epta piges" (seven springs) is on the way to Archipolis Village. It is a valley flowing with clear springs covering with pine trees. Seven springs offers a cool and peaceful landscape. A real oasis where waters come out from the springs all year around to form a small lake having access through a tunnel of 186cm, leading to the lake.
